Grief

Grief arrives.

Quietly.

One day

it is simply there

sitting inside a life.

The hurt is invisible.

Most people pass by

without seeing it.

What we want

is not grief.

What we want

is what left.

A face.

A voice.

A life

that once filled the room.

Loss takes many forms.

Grief follows.

It lingers

longer than expected.

Longer

than we would choose.

Time moves.

Slowly

the weight shifts.

Not gone.

Just different.

We pretend sometimes

that grief is not there.

But it is.

And sooner or later

we must look at it.

And when we do

we realise something:

love is the reason grief exists.

Aimless
