I have just joined Susan on the longest road to hell. She became so poorly with the contaminated water in our holiday home that eventually she was rushed, unconscious, to the resuscitation area at A&E. I do not know how to document this horrid affair.
Maybe I should do it backwards. Today Susan finally came to the conclusion that her contamination caused a condition called hypokalemia.
Hypokalemia is a condition where the level of potassium in your blood is lower than normal.
Potassium is an essential electrolyte—it helps your muscles contract, keeps your heart rhythm steady, and supports nerve function. When levels drop too low, your body can start to misfire a bit.
Common causes include:
• Diuretics (“water pills”)
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Excessive sweating
• Not getting enough potassium from food
• Certain hormonal or kidney disorders
Symptoms can range from mild to serious, depending on how low the potassium is:
• Muscle weakness or cramps
• Fatigue
• Constipation
• Irregular heartbeats (this is the most concerning)
• In severe cases, paralysis or dangerous heart rhythm problems
Treatment depends on the cause and severity:
• Potassium-rich foods (like bananas, oranges, potatoes, spinach)
• Oral potassium supplements
• IV potassium in hospital settings for severe cases
• Treating the underlying cause (like adjusting medications)
If hypokalemia is suspected or symptoms are present, it’s important to get blood tests and medical guidance—especially because potassium levels affect the heart.
If you want, I can explain it in super simple terms, go deeper medically, or help connect it to symptoms you’re seeing.

I am very angry about the whole thing, so as mentioned above I do not know how to document it all. I have bits written in notes, bits in word and emails and texts. It would be great to bring it all together here, and maybe insure that no one has to go through what we have had to go through.
I feel that I can open up about this as I have some help on hand. I have met a wonderful solicitor, whom does not come cheap, but is on our side. Help that we need to help us to move forward.
